‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake Starring Abigail Breslin, Sarah Hyland, And Debra Messing Set To Air Tomorrow On ABC

Set your DVR — because one of the most iconic movies ever made just got a fresh, new facelift.

Tomorrow, ABC will air a three-hour remake of the highly popular ’80s film, Dirty Dancing. And if that alone isn’t enough to draw in viewers, then maybe the movie’s three leading ladies will.

Abigail Breslin is certainly a seasoned Hollywood actress, with many big roles under her belt at a young age. The 21-year-old has starred in films like Little Miss Sunshine and August: Osage County alongside the likes of Steve Carell, Meryl Streep, and Julia Roberts. That’s quite an impressive resume.

But the current Scream Queens star has big shoes to fill as she makes her musical debut as Baby Houseman, a role originally made famous by Jennifer Grey. And though Breslin certainly seems excited about the film, she admitted to ABC News that her lack of background in dancing made the role a bit more challenging .

“I’m not a dancer, I’m not graceful, I can’t even walk in a straight line,” Breslin said.

“I couldn’t be the furthest thing from somebody who would be seen as, like, ‘Wow, she’s so poised.’ Like, nobody’s ever said that about me.”

But judging from her social media posts, Abigail seems to have done the role justice — nailing some of the movie’s most famous poses.

Fresh off the heels of her Will and Grace reboot announcement, Debra Messing will also join in on the fun, playing the role of Marjorie Houseman — aka Baby’s mom. Fans of the red-headed star took to Twitter to express their excitement over getting to see the veteran actress on TV once again.

And last but not least is Sarah Hyland, who will play the role of Lisa Houseman — Baby’s older sister. The Modern Family star seemed to take this role seriously, even learning how to play the ukulele.

But the new cast isn’t the only thing that is different about the remake. Though the new version has mostly stayed true to the original film’s roots, the reboot has also added a few new parts as Debra Messing revealed to PEOPLE .

“The thing that was exciting to me was you find out what happens to Baby and Johnny years later.”

ABC is not the first network to air the remake of a popular film over the past few years. Last February, Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens starred in Grease, Live! on Fox, which pulled in an impressive 12.2 million viewers during the three-hour live show.

Similarly, Ariana Grande and Derek Hough starred in NBC’s Hairspray Live! last December. But sadly, their live musical event fell flat, bringing in only 8.92 million viewers.

And though Dirty Dancing will not be done in the same live manner as Grease Live! and Hairspray Live! , it will be interesting to see if the remake will be able to live up to the hype and pull in the same amount (or more) viewers as the musicals that came before it.

Dirty Dancing airs on Wednesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
