Justin Bieber is spoilt for choice as far as mentors go. Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Adam Levine, Drake, and Will Smith (who’s already enlisted in weekly phone calls) are so concerned about the teen singer’s incident-prone transit through 2013 that they’ve offered their services.
As revealed by Justin’s longtime manager, Scooter Braun, in their joint interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Eminem’s manager , Paul Rosenberg, told Braun:
“If you ever want Eminem to talk to him, he would do it in a second. He cares about that kid,” THR added the rapper’s daughter, Hailie Mathers, is a Bieber fan who had previously spent time with the singer when he played Detroit.
So far, so surprisingly… nice.
So, imagine our surprise when we came upon Eminem’s recent interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, during which he definitely mentioned Kanye West and may have alluded to one of Bieber’s most inglorious videos.
At the start of the interview, even before Zane had begun to be incredibly annoying, he introduced Eminem saying how exciting it was to have him in London shortly before he was due to play a live set.
Cue the rapper’s tongue-in-cheek response:
“It’s really exciting man. I’m super excited to be here.” He added, “I was trying to figure out how I was going to top the publicity of yours’ and Kanye’s interview, so I decided I was going to walk in here and just pee on the floor and leave.”
At this point in the interview, Eminem freezes, as if he’s…, then punchlines, “I’m peeing right now.”
Some commenters at Radio 1’s YouTube channel, where the clip is posted, are convinced Eminem was mocking Kanye’s previous interview and Bieber’s infamous peeing into a mop bucket incident.
We’re not so sure, but we could be wrong. The Hollywood Reporter published its interview on Nov. 20. The BBC uploaded Lowe’s sit-down on Nov. 18.
But considering the iconic rapper has offered to mentor or assist Justin through the choppy waters of overly-scrutinized teenhood, it does beg the question, why would he openly mock the kid?
Was Eminem having a laugh at Justin Bieber’s expense, or is ‘peeing where you sit’ just a timeless joke? Watch the video above and tell us what you think in comments below.
