There has been buzz for months now that Desiree Hartsock’s wedding to Chris Siegfried of The Bachelorette would end up not being televised. ABC has never confirmed this, though gossip guru Reality Steve said ages ago that the network wasn’t doing it though he didn’t know the reason. Now new reports may shed some light on the situation.
Radar Online claims to have the scoop on The Bachelorette wedding situation from ABC insiders. Though the network has done elaborate on-air weddings for all of the precious “winners” when they wed, Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried are seemingly becoming an exception. Word has it that not only is ABC indeed passing on this one, but that Hartsock is “pissed.”
Why would the network blow off Desiree and Chris’ wedding? Just last January they aired the nuptials of Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe, and just over a year before that they did Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum’s wedding. However, ratings perhaps weren’t quite what they envisioned. In this case, though, there may be more to it than that.
Supposedly, the show has told Hartsock that they aren’t paying for her wedding, and they’re not televising it. Why? They seemingly thought she was just too boring. It seems that it may also partly be that the network sees that more franchise couples are lasting, and they aren’t looking to keep shelling out the big bucks for the big day when they don’t seem to bring in big ratings.
If these sources are correct, Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray’s wedding may not be televised either. It seems the door may still be open on that one, at least a bit, as they are a couple that is quite popular with franchise fans. The Bachelorette fans will have to wait and see when it comes to Andi and Josh’s wedding, but it does seem absolute now that Desiree and Chris will be getting married on their own.
While Chris and Desiree haven’t addressed the issue directly, Siegfried did recently share in response to a follower’s question on Twitter that it didn’t look like he and Des had any big television appearances ahead. Until recently it had sounded as if they were still hoping something would come through, but apparently that isn’t going to come together.
Desiree and Chris have previously said they are hoping for a January wedding date, and they’ve been working hard to get the pieces into place. This past week they were in New York so Desiree could show her new wedding gown collection. They spent a bit of time with Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray, who were attending the same bridal shows . The two couples shared a few pictures of the quartet together on social media, and everybody was all smiles.
Did ABC really blow off Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried’s wedding because they were too boring, and the network didn’t want to shell out the cash? It will be interesting to see if the network ever addresses the situation, but at this point it does appear that whether it be ratings, money or a lack of zip from the lead, the network is taking a pass.
