The Chicago Bulls, and star Derrick Rose, are officially on the road to recovery. The Bulls were eliminated from the playoffs last week and today Rose underwent knee surgery to repair his torn ACL.
The Chicago Suntimes reports that Rose had surgery this morning at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. The surgery was performed by the team’s physician Dr. Brian Cole.
A source told the Suntimes that the surgery went smoothly with no complications.
The source said:
“His knee looked great. It’s what you’d expect from a 23-year-old physical specimen.”
Rose, who won the MVP last year, missed 27 games during the regular season this year. Rose tore his ACL during game one of the first round playoff series against the 76ers. It was the Bulls star’s fifth injury of the year. Rose has missed games this year with toe, back, groin and ankle/foot injuries.
The former MVP averaged 21.8 points and 7.9 assists this season in just 39 games. During his MVP season last year, Rose averaged 25 points and 7.7 assists over 81 games.
