Deadpool Origins Movie: What Should Be In It?

The Deadpool origins movie is in the works, even if it doesn’t have a story yet. What should be in this film, though? Read on.

Deadpool, first and foremost, is the “merc with the mouth,” a nickname that was barely even alluded to in X-Men Origins: Wolverine . The nickname comes from the fact that the character never seems to shut up, and often finds himself at odds with everybody as a result. That first movie should really be ignored when the new origins movie comes along, because almost nothing of what made Deadpool who he is was in that last one.

  • The Deadpool origins movie should show him battling with the cancer that almost killed him in the beginning, as the cancer is the reason he had volunteered for the Weapon X program. He probably would have died before even earning the name Deadpool otherwise. The healing factor is what saved him and then made him almost invincible.
  • Ryan Reynolds needs to be made really ugly to show how badly the cancer scarred him before the healing factor was introduced. And this time, don’t sew his mouth closed, as that served absolutely no purpose in the Wolverine film other than to get the fans angry. The cancer scars are the reason he wears the mask.
  • Leave his swords outside of him. The Deadpool origins movie is not about turning Wade Wilson into Baraka from Mortal Kombat . Keep his swords in sheaths against his back and give him the red and black suit we all know him for.
  • If Deadpool gets teamed up with anyone, it should be Cable, AKA Nathan Summers. He was an almost omni-powerful mutant that often found himself teamed up with the “ merc with the mouth ,” so we definitely want to see that on the big screen. We have the technology.
  • Make Deadpool say a lot more stuff. Don’t just give him three lines and have someone else who talked even more tell him to shut up. In fact, this may be where Michael Bay’s sense of humor from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen might come in handy, as the “merc with the mouth” is known for saying completely inappropriate things. In fact, the ensuing slapstick death matches that come from his inappropriate remarks are basically his trademark.

In general, the Deadpool origins movie should remind comic book fans of why we love the character in the first place.
