The upcoming Deadpool movie has gone through its fair share of trials and tribulations.
Coming off the heels of the much-hated 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine , it seemed like Deadpool would never get a shot to redeem himself. Sure, Reynolds’s portrayal of the “Merc with the Mouth” was one of the few aspects the movie that was praised for. That said, there was no way Fox was about to take a chance on a new IP when its existing one had, for all intents and purposes, failed to meet expectations. Deadpool would sit on the shelf for many years, and it was only after the infamous test footage leaked that the project was fast tracked. Now here we are, less than a year away from its release in theaters.
What’s more is that Ryan Reynolds recently posted a tweet announcing that Deadpool has officially finished production.
#Deadpool has been a privilege to make. And we got to make this film because of you. Gonna eat a samich now. #wrapped pic.twitter.com/AMW68HD2BI

The Deadpool movie has been quite the spectacle over the past few months. Every couple weeks, there’s some big piece of Deadpool news. From the costume reveal to the ever-so-memorable R-rating announcement , the Deadpool production seemed to everything in their power to convince fans of how faithful the film would be to the source material.
Despite existing in the same universe as the X-Men, and the rest of Marvel’s hard-hitters in the comic books, Deadpool has always been a refreshingly tongue-in-cheek figure in geek culture. Based on what we’ve seen of the character so far, this isn’t something that’s been lost in the movie.
The movie is slated for a February 12, 2016 release, meaning we have a short eight-plus months until we see Reynolds donning the costume on the big screen. Until then, we’ll likely have a few Deadpool trailers on the way before it hits theaters, and given the marketing so far, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Reynolds hit some media outlets dressed as Deadpool himself in the near future.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the official synopsis for the film is as follows.
“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”
