Following a stint on the UK’s version of Celebrity Big Brother , which she left early citing “medical reasons,” David Bowie’s estranged ex-wife Angie Bowie sat down with the ladies of the talk show Loose Women , to discuss David’s passing, their life together, and their son — with whom Angie is also estranged — Duncan Jones. The latter subject sparked a bit of anger in the 66-year-old former model.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Angie Bowie — who was married to David from 1970 to 1980 –learned of the death of her ex-husband while still inside the Celebrity Big Brother house. She had initially made the decision to stay on the reality show, but ultimately decided to leave the show this week, citing “medical reasons” for her sudden departure.

Yesterday, January 22, Angie Bowie made her first public appearance, outside of the Big Brother house, on the long-running news-and-gossip panelist television show Loose Women , to discuss David Bowie’s death, among other controversial topics.

In her first televised interview since leaving the show, Bowie told the panelists that when she had originally been made aware of David Bowie’s death, she had been sad, but ultimately fine with it. It wasn’t until later, when the news sunk in , that she truly broke down, reports Metro .

“It was fine except I couldn’t believe it. I thought I would die first. I don’t think anyone knew [David had cancer]. In fact let me take this opportunity to say I think he staged his passing rather well.”

Bowie also admitted though she and David had been estranged for a number of years, it wasn’t until recently that she realized she was no longer mad at the singer. When asked if she harbored any regrets about not having told David she no longer hated him before his death, Angie simply said that no, she had no regrets whatsoever, nor did she hold any regrets regarding the son she and David shared, 44-year-old film maker Duncan Jones — who’s name at birth was Zowie Bowie. Angie freely admitted, both during the interview, and on the set of Celebrity Big Brother , that she never fought for custody of young Zowie when the pair divorced, and that she hadn’t seen her son in nearly three decades.

When pressed regarding the fact that she had never fought for custody of her son, Angie Bowie stated that it was never about fighting for the child, that she had had Zowie for David. According to the Daily Mail , one of the hosts, Jane Moore, then asked Bowie if she meant that she had never wanted children, and it was then that she became visibly agitated at the line of questioning.

“No, it wasn’t a question of that. I said to him at the time I will never fight you for custody. David and his father were this close. Now what kind of a person would I be if I used my son as a weapon in my tool belt during that divorce? Is that not disgusting behaviour?”

A round of applause from the audience followed Angie Bowie’s answer, but the talk show host wasn’t satisfied, and attempted to continue the discussion, asking Bowie if she felt her and David’s son believed his mother had abandoned him in his best interest. Angie quickly put an end to the discussion, saying that she had no idea what Duncan thought, as she wasn’t him, and hadn’t seen him since he was “13 or 14.” She said she no longer wanted to talk about the subject, as it hurt her, and when things hurt her, “I put it in something in the back of my head and I close the door.”

David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, at 69-years-old, after an 18-month long battle with cancer. The world continues to mourn his loss.
