Joseph Gordon-Levitt and 500 Days of Summer co-star Zooey Deschanel are great friends, but, despite some palpable on-screen chemistry, the two will never date in real life. JGL said that the mere proposition of a relationship with Deschanel would just be “awkward.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt ( The Dark Knight Rises ) and Zooey Deschanel ( New Girl ) have been friends for over a decade, and that much is probably never going to change, according to Us Weekly . Despite their failed yet touching romance in the film 500 Days of Summer and the duo’s YouTube duet shortly thereafter, dating Deschanel is something JGL has never considered:
“It’s awkward when people say that,” Gordon-Levitt tells the new issue of Playboy regarding fan calls for the couple to shack up. “Zooey and I just think it’s funny. It is funny. We’ve been friends for 10 years.”
Fan-fawning over the would-be couple has been climbing recently, especially with Deschanel’s recent divorce from husband Ben Gibbard in January , reports MSN. Still, Gordon-Levitt doesn’t see Deschanel as a dating option, merely a great friend and wonderful woman.
“She loves movies, music and art, and she’s incredibly knowledgeable about that stuff,” he boasts of his former co-star. “She’s turned me on to so many good movies and so much good music. It’s fun just to have conversations, watch movies with her and stuff like that.”
Besides, Deschanel was spotted kissing new beau Jamie Linden recently, so she’s hardly single. JGL has been linked to Larisa Oleynik and Devon Aoki in the past but seems perfectly content with the bachelor lifestyle.
