Darren Wilson’s family has broken their silence. A relative of officer Wilson admits that while racial profiling does exist, such a practice is not used in Ferguson. Michael Brown was not shot because he was black but because he caused the officer to fear for his life, according to a loved one.
The relative of the Ferguson police officer spoke with the Daily Mail anonymously, out of safety fears. The Darren Wilson family member said, “The grand jury made the right decision. Darren did the right thing. He acted like a cop. What was he supposed to do?”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the Ferguson policeman who shot and killed Mike Brown was recently married. Wilson’s bride, Barbara Spradling, 37, is also an officer on the same police force. “It was him or Michael Brown. I’m glad it was Darren who went home that night,” the unidentified Darren Wilson family member added.
The Darren Wilson family has allegedly received numerous death threats since the Michael Brown shooting. As already noted by the Inquisitr , a militant group allegedly involved in the Uhuru movement, called the Black Rebels, put a $5,000 bounty on the Ferguson police officer’s head. The Black Rebels stated on Twitter that they merely “had a few questions to ask” Officer Wilson. The same group also levied a $1,000 bounty for the whereabouts for close relatives.
“We have had death threats — messages on the phone, saying ‘We will kill you. We will burn your f***ing house down.’ There are some police out there who overdo their authority but Darren isn’t one of them. Darren is a good guy and he isn’t a racist,” the unnamed relative of the Ferguson police officer added. “Darren shot Michael Brown because he was a 300-pound, 6-foot-5 guy trying to beat the s**t out of him, trying to get his gun.”
The Darren Wilson loved one also maintains that the Ferguson police officer would have shot Michael Brown regardless of race. “He would have shot him if he was white. He would have shot him if he was Mexican. He did not shoot Michael Brown because he was black.”
When asked about the Ferguson riots, which quickly occurred after the Michael Brown shooting grand jury decision was read, Darren Wilson’s relative wondered, like many of those watching the events unfold on television, why all the looting and fires were occurring. “The good protesters should root these people out. These people are destroying everything, and for what? It’s not what Michael Brown’s family wants. It’s not what anybody wants.”
What do you think about the comments made by Darren Wilson’s family member? Will the Ferguson riots continue?
