The second half of Dance Moms Season 5 begins Tuesday night on Lifetime, but the stars are already done taping this season and looking ahead. Are there any big changes on the way when the next full season hits? From the sounds of Abby Lee Miller’s latest interview, fans may want to brace themselves for some upheaval.
Heading into this current season, viewers saw the departure of Chloe Lukasiak and her mom Christi, but Maddie, Mackenzie, Kendall, Nia, Kalani, and JoJo have been consistently around now. Fans have been very worried that one or more of the current dancers might leave when and if Season 6 begins, with a lot of focus on Nia Sioux Frazier in particular. So far, Nia has said she’s staying put.
Interestingly, Abby Lee Miller is opening up about some drama that’s played out behind-the-scenes in Season 5 and she makes it sound as if she could be the one driving big changes. Miller talked with Entertainment Tonight and teased some Dance Moms spoilers that relate to the rest of Season 5 and the possibility of Season 6.
Miller says that in the episodes to come, there will be a lot of “missing Abby.” She teases that there was an altercation at a competition that was related to the moms badgering her about the girls taking the class and she seemingly stepped back from the show for a few days as a result.
Abby also references a battle where production apparently threw her out of a competition and she went ahead and left. She says that if they can do it all without her, they can go ahead and try. When Miller is asked about Season 6 of Dance Moms , Abby scoffed a bit.
The Dance Moms star says that Lifetime is “in the rears,” surely meaning that the network is in arrears regarding her payments for the show. She also indicates that as of now, it’s unlikely that all of the same girls will be in the mix of Season 6 should the show continue. Abby is never one to shy away from showing her confidence, and that is quite apparent in this interview as well. Is she saying what she’s saying to try to position herself to get a better deal or concessions from the network? That may well be.
Just a couple of months ago, notes the Daily Telegraph , Miller made some pretty casual references to Dance Moms Season 6 as if it were a done deal with no doubt. Despite some controversy and ratings hits after the drama with Brooke, Paige, and Kelly Hyland and the departure of the Lukasiak family, it seems doubtful that the show is ending anytime soon.
Miller may talk up a big game and make it seem as if she can shrug off the possibility of departing the show, but chances seem pretty good that Miller and Dance Moms will be back with another season. Will all of the same girls return though? Viewers will have to stay tuned for more scoop now that Season 5 has wrapped filming.
