The Dallas Cowboys let running back DeMarco Murray go, and now he’s with the rival Philadelphia Eagles. Now, they’ve got Darren McFadden as their primary back, but they certainly wouldn’t mind putting together a trade that could bring disgruntled Minnesota Vikings back Adrian Peterson into Dallas.
ESPN has reported that Peterson’s agent, Ben Dorga , declined an invitation to speak with Rick Spielman, the Vikings general manager. This happened after Spielman revealed that the Vikings were not going to release Peterson from his contract, and things are “still uneasy.”
Peterson has not been happy about the lack of support shown to him during his legal battle. A league source even said that it’s his preference to play somewhere else this upcoming season.
Not only does this mean that the Dallas Cowboys could still be in play for a Peterson trade, but other teams may want to take their shot as well.
#Cowboys ‘out’ on #AdrianPeterson idea? No; it’s just that another bidder might be more ‘in’ http://t.co/GgiYuRuxqE pic.twitter.com/7FpoGb18YE

The Dallas Cowboys would love to get Adrian Peterson into their camp, but it looks as if at least two other teams could make their play at a trade for the running back. Sports World Report is stating that the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins are both throwing their hat into the ring.
It appears as if Peterson is actually interested in playing for Arizona, but if Minnesota gets their act together, then he could stay put. Teams will also have to consider the subject of Peterson’s contract, and that could push the Cowboys out of it.
Dallas was set to make a play for Peterson if they let DeMarco Murray go. Well, they did that, and then Peterson wasn’t available, so they signed McFadden. Now, McFadden’s salary is on the books and a trade with the Vikings means the Cowboys would be responsible for his 2015 salary of $12.75 million with a cap hit of $15 million.
There are not many teams that could pay this salary. Even the Arizona Cardinals likely wouldn’t be willing to pay that for a 30-year-old running back who hardly played at all last season.
There is no doubt that Adrian Peterson could help any team out at running back, and he’d be a valuable asset. The Minnesota Vikings won’t release him, so a trade is the only possibility. The rumors still have the Dallas Cowboys in the picture, but not at the price tag he currently has.
