Season 11 of Criminal Minds begins Wednesday night on CBS and fans cannot wait to dive into new episodes again. Jennifer Love Hewitt is not returning for the new season, but Aisha Tyler will be joining the Behavioral Analysis Unit in a recurring role. What Criminal Minds spoilers are available for the September 30 premiere?
Wednesday night’s premiere is titled “The Job,” and CBS teases that the BAU team will be hunting for a serial killer who seemingly leaves a telltale mark on the faces of the victims. Aisha Tyler plays a forensic psychologist named Dr. Tara Lewis and she joins the team to work on this case. Many will recognize Tyler from the work she’s done on shows like The Talk, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Ghost Whisperer, CSI, 24, and Friends .
TV Guide shares that apparently Lewis will be added to the team temporarily after she works on this serial killer case and impresses Hotch. Tyler describes the character as one who is passionate, engaged, and funny, but she’s focused on the task at hand as well. Tyler will look a bit different to fans who follow her work, as she’ll be wearing a pixie wig in this role.

According to Criminal Minds spoilers from TVLine , the serial killer case that kicks off Season 11 is a twisted and bizarre one . As fans know, of course, that’s saying a lot for this show as twisted is nothing new for the BAU team.
Apparently the unique way this killer marks his victims is only the beginning of the unusual drama. Showrunner Erica Messer teases that the reason behind his actions has something to do with the look of his own face.
As Season 10 wrapped, viewers learned that the character of JJ was pregnant again, a nod to actress A.J. Cook’s real-life pregnancy. Though JJ may still be on maternity leave as the new season begins, Criminal Minds spoilers indicate that viewers will get a fun glimpse at her in Wednesday’s premiere.
There will be a brief moment with JJ in “The Job,” as she’ll seemingly be checking in with the team from maternity leave. TV Guide shares that Cook’s newest family addition , Phoenix, will be playing JJ’s new son Michael in the quick clip.
Criminal Minds fans may remember that the actress did a similar thing with her first son, having Mekhai playing Henry previously as well. As for Cook’s full-fledged return, it seems that will come in Episode 7 airing later this fall. For now, she’s made it clear she’s been enjoying this time with her sons at home.

Viewers have had their fair share of cast changes over these past few seasons, a detail that those behind the show have not forgotten. There was Jeanne Tripplehorn’s Blake in addition to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Kate, and it seems that Messer is taking a different approach in bringing Tyler into the picture in Season 11.
The team is down two agents with JJ on maternity leave and Kate’s departure after all that transpired in the Season 10 finale. Given that, Criminal Minds spoilers detail that Hotch knows he needs someone else to help the team.
At this point, Dr. Lewis is only slated as a recurring character, set to appear in six episodes right now. It seems the show may wait and see how Tyler gels with the team, and viewers, before expanding her role too much. However, it seems Tyler’s addition to the cast has gone quite well so far.
Will Lewis fit with the team and become a permanent addition? What kinds of chaos lies ahead for the BAU in this new season? Fans are quite anxious to throw themselves back into the thick of things with the Season 11 premiere of Criminal Minds set to debut Wednesday night on CBS, and it sounds as if things will kick off in a grand way with this episode.
