In tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds, “Magnificent Light,” the BAU investigates the mysterious murders that seem to surround a popular motivational speaker.
At the start of tonight’s episode, Barry Flynn seems like your typical motivational speaker. He tells an enthralled crowd to trust their instincts and follow their dreams, and he singles out a couple people in the audience, making him seem like he has some kind of sixth sense.
One of the people he singles out is an attractive brunette who longs to be an artist. She meets him after the show for a personal coaching session. He walks her out, but then seems tired of the crowds, so he leaves shortly after she leaves. But as she is walking away, a hooded figure follows her home.
The hooded man murders her and the BAU is on the case. They are especially intrigued by the message the killer leaves behind at each scene. He writes “Hear your evil / Speak your evil” in red paint on the victims’ walls.
They find tickets to Barry Flynn’s show at the second victim’s place and an autographed flier at the first’s so they head to the theater to try to speak with him personally.
Unfortunately for the FBI, Flynn’s been missing since his show last night. His manager confirms that he met the second victim for a private consultation right before he left, making him the last person to see her alive. And now that he is missing, he is the prime suspect in the murders.
But is Barry Flynn really the killer? Or is he about to fall victim to an obsessed fan? Or at least, an obsessed fan who isn’t Penelope Garcia? What did you think of tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds, “Magnificent Light”?
