Conor McGregor took to Twitter last week to celebrate his three-year anniversary with the UFC, but he did it in a very Conor McGregor way.
The MMA star shared a post aimed at the UFC bigwigs, calling them “bums” and boasting about his ability to draw a crowd as well as make millions for the organization. It appears he later thought better of it and deleted the tweet, but once something is on the Internet, it’s there forever .
“3 years ago today, I began my crusade to take all you bums from 5 figure paydays to multi seven figure paydays. And not even a thank you,” Conor wrote.
Of course, it’s not the first time Conor McGregor has mentioned how much money he makes for the UFC, and it’s undoubtedly not the last. The athlete told the media last year that he was up for a fight against boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, who had made no secret of the fact that he wanted a shot at McGregor despite having retired. The boxer was likely thinking of a big payday, and although McGregor agreed that it would be a huge moneymaker, he hinted that Mayweather had no idea what he would be getting himself into.

“When you don’t know how to grapple you don’t stand a chance. For us, it’s like playing with a baby. People who don’t understand the sport cannot understand how vulnerable they are. There are always clinches and Ronda is a judo Olympian. She would throw Floyd on his head in a second. Me? I would knock him out cold….You’re talking about a fight that could generate half a billion — it’s this one. There’s never going to be another boxing fight like this. Only a cross-style match between Mayweather and me could generate that kind of interest and revenue. So maybe it could happen. I would certainly be up for it. I am capitalizing on every single opportunity,” McGregor said .
Mayweather said earlier this year that he and his team have been working on locking down a date for the fight, but as of now it’s unclear whether it will really happen.
“I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a master plan to make that fight happen. It hasn’t happened yet, but we locked down some dates, me and my team, me and Al Haymon, me and Leonard Ellerbe. We locked down some dates, in different countries, in different cities in the United States,” Floyd Mayweather said.
McGregor isn’t one to shy away from controversy. Recently he found himself the subject of a lot of buzz when he called WWE wrestlers a very derogatory name and calling out CM Punk, who has been training to enter the UFC.

“For the most part, those WWE guys are p***ies, to be honest. They’re messed up p***ies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock [Lesnar], he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f***ing eye balls, so how can I respect that? And then what’s the other guy? The other guy hasn’t fought yet, so I don’t know about him yet,” McGregor said .
I didn’t mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday’s.

McGregor has been busy for the past several weeks preparing for his next fight, a rematch against Nate Diaz on August 20. Diaz took the win the last time they entered the cage together.
