49er Colin Kaepernick’s Miami Dolphins hat has caused quite the stir, But instead of apologizing to some of his disgruntled fans, the quarterback doesn’t seem to care.

Kaepernick was photographed with the hat on the Fourth of July when he attended a party. A fan posted the picture to Twitter with the caption, “49ers QB Colin Kaepernick at a 4th of july party Rocking a Dolphins hat..”

Another user also posted the photo, commenting, “#Dolphins are at point that other teams’ franchise QBs try to pass as members. Nice hat Kaepernick! @NinersNation.”

Many of the football player’s fans saw the hat as a sign of disrespect, because the quarterback was representing someone else’s team. However, Kaepernick defended his reasons, posting a photo of himself with the hat on Instagram.

If his expression in the picture wasn’t enough to convey how he felt about the uproar, Kaepernick also wrote:

“This is the hat y’all mad at? I’m goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won’t let me in the building! #ridiculous #ya’llmustbebored.”

USA Today’s Nate Scott agreed with Kaepernick about the hat, commenting that the 49ers quarterback, “may have a point — it is a pretty silly thing to get upset at.” However, he added, “a simple ‘I’m sorry’ wouldn’t hurt anything, either.”

NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling appeared to agree with the latter half of Scott’s statement, adding, “Bitter fans too often come off like jilted lovers.” And while some fans could have the right to be jilted by a player who isn’t performing well with his team, that isn’t the case with Kaepernick, who gave his fans every reason to believe he’s 100 percent with the 49ers.

What do you think about Colin Kaepernick’s Dolphins hat? Should the 49ers quarterback apologize for wearing another team’s memorabilia, or is he right to say, essentially, get a life?
