After almost eight weeks, the K-drama Cinderella and Four Knights is in the home stretch in concluding with only its penultimate episode and finale left to air. The Total Variety Network (tvN) series starring Park So Dam as Eun Ha Won (Cinderella) and Jung Il Woo, Ahn Jae Hyun, Lee Jung Shin, and Choi Min respectively as Kang Ji Woon, Kang Hyun Min, Kang Seo Woo, and Lee Yoon Sung (Four Knights), has seen a more than decent viewership so far, starting out strong with more than 3.5 percent viewership for nation of South Korea. The fact Cinderella and Four Knights was a lot like Boys Over Flowers with a far more intricate plot helped out.
Unfortunately, Cinderella and Four Knights has been decreasing in viewership gradually possibly because it was too obvious who would end up with whom very early in the K-drama. The series had a chance to really surprise it viewers by giving all “Four Knights” a real chance to end up with “Cinderella.” However, there was a sudden spike in viewership in the fourth and third-to-the-last episodes because they actually concentrated on the underlying conflict centered on Chairman Kang outside of who Eun Ha Won will end up with. Ergo, when the penultimate episode and finale airs, will K-drama fans tune in more to find out what will happen to Chairman Kang and Sky Group over who Ha Won will ultimately end up with?
Before continuing, it must be noted this article will contain series spoilers. Yet, it is most likely that any K-drama fan of Cinderella and Four Knights reading this has kept up with the series. [ WARNING: Spoilers Ahead! ] Anyways, earlier in the series, certain scenes suggested that Secretary Lee Yoon Sung is the son of Jim Hwa Ja, the fifth wife of Chairman Kang. She married Chairman Kang as a means to take over Sky Group and make her son its successor. Given that all of Chairman Kang’s sons have passed on, there would be nobody else, not even the Kang Cousins, who could hold the reigns of Sky Group unless it is someone considered “direct” family. Father and son is considered a direct family relationship even if it happens to be a step-relationship.
There is a quagmire, however, as Chairman Kang does not know Jim Hwa Ja’s son is his secretary, Lee Yoon Sung. As a result, when Chairman Kang becomes suspicious of Hwa Ja thinking she is having an extramarital affair, he does some snooping of his own and catches Yoon Sung and Hwa Ja having dinner together as son and mother. Chairman Kang is shocked at what he sees thinking they both were in a relationship and passes out which is bad by itself because we learn that the reason why Chairman Kang wants Eun Ha Won to train the Kang Cousins to run Sky Group is because he is suffering from liver failure.
By the end of the 14th episode, which is the third to the last episode, Chairman Kang’s liver has completely failed and Ji Hwa Ja has given all of her stocks to her son Lee Yoon Sung making him the majority stockholder of Sky Group. K-drama fans are now wondering what will happen to Chairman Kang and Sky Group? Unlike the love lines written for this series, this story was not as obvious and predictable. Will Chairman Kang find a donor in time? If he does, will the procedure be successful? If it is successful, will he keep his place as president of Sky Group, hand the reigns to Yoon Sung, or will it go to someone else?
These questions are now burning in K-drama fans after the plot of Cinderella and Four Knights was heavily pushed after numerous episodes concentrating on the love line between Eun Ha Won and Kang Ji Woon, fans knew would happen when it was established way too early in the series. Needless to say, the major plot push caused a spike in viewership ratings too from Episode 12 to 14 of almost 0.5 percent across the board as provided by AGB Nielsen Korea and TNS Media Korea .
K-drama fans of Cinderella and Four Knights cannot wait to see how the series will conclude, but they will have to wait at least three days at the penultimate episode and finale will air this coming Friday and Saturday respectively, September 30 and October 1, at 11 p.m. KST on tvN. For those who do not have access to the Korean pay channel, the series can be watched for free, with ads, exclusively on DramaFever .
