Christopher Nolan is teaming up with Hans Zimmer once again.
The award-winning composer and the acclaimed director will join forces for the upcoming sci-fi flick Interstellar . If you’re a fan of Nolan’s work, this shouldn’t come as a very big surprise.
Zimmer previously worked on the filmmaker’s Dark Knight trilogy as well as his 2010 mind-bender Inception . He also provided the score for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel , a film which Nolan produced.
Hans Zimmer recently told the folks at Collider that work on Interstellar has already begun.
“I wrote something … and I’m writing that. So, yes, we have started,” he told the website.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with the project, Interstellar is a time travel flick which uses theories developed by Kip Thorne . The American physicist will also serve as producer on the film.
Not much is known about the movie at the moment. The only thing known for sure is that it’s a “heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.”
Since Nolan tends to be secretive about his work, people often try their best to get the guy to talk. During a recent chat about the work of Stanley Kubrick, the director was asked if 2001 had any influence on the script for his next endeavor.
“I think anytime you look at science fiction in movies, there are key touchstones. ‘Metropolis.’ ‘Blade Runner.’ ‘2001.’ Whenever you’re talking about getting off the planet, 2001 is somewhat unavoidable. But there is only one ‘2001.’ So you don’t want to get too near to that,” the filmmaker explained.
Christopher Nolan quickly gathered an impressive cast for his movie. In addition to frequent collaborator Michael Caine, Interstellar will also feature Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway , and the increasingly busy Jessica Chastain. The movie is set to arrive in theaters in the US on November 7, 2014.
