The shooter that took lives at an Oregon community college was 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer , reports CNN . In the wake of that revelation, searchers are seeking all the information they can online about Mercer, and are coming up with a perplexing mix of the man. Those online profiles from MySpace, and other social media sites — including what folks are finding on Facebook, sharing via Twitter, and on Instagram — are putting together a disturbing picture.
A MySpace page named Chris Harper Mercer shows photos of a man who holds a rifle in one photo. Others include photos of the Irish Republican Army. The descriptions that go along with those photos hold up the IRA to some kind of glorious status.
“Me, holding a rifle. It was supposed to be all the way in the picture, but it didn’t work out. Only the barrel shows.”
“Looking cool defending their country”
“Me in a tuxedo the day of my sisters [sic] wedding.”
With a variety of searches for the social media accounts belonging to Chris, ones like the following image from “The Red Room” site called Spiritual Passions purport to be attributed to Harper Mercer , as reported by the Express UK . In that photo, it lists interests such as the Internet and killing zombies for the horror movie fan. With a sexual orientation listed as straight and an eye color of brown, the ethnicity is listed as mixed race.
If it is a profile truly belonging to Harper Mercer, he lists facts such as not wanting kids, the fact that he was currently in college when the profile was created, and that he lived with his parents. The religious views are interesting, specifically since Chris lists that he’s “not religious, not religious, but spiritual.” According to NR Today , Harper Mercer specially targeted those whom he would kill based on their belief systems. Chris allegedly lined up his victims and asked if they were Christian. If they said yes, Harper-Mercer shot them in the head. If they said no or didn’t answer, Chris shot them in the leg.
While varying photos are emerging of online profiles reported to be Harper Mercer, the image from the Red Room called “IRONCROSS45” a 5-foot, 9-inch tall man who weighed 180 pounds and was 26 years old. Born on July 26, Chris’ Los Angeles, California, location is explained by the Daily Beast , which notes how Harper-Mercer’s mother moved around. The publication also noted how much Chris hated religion.
Other attributes emerging from the Harper Mercer profile showed that Chris wasn’t much of a drinker, and identified himself as a conservative Republican. It’s a dichotomy of unexpected answers, with the Harper Mercer profile claiming no drugs were ever used, and that he was “always dieting” and inexplicably listed “BRAINS!!” next to the “food related” question.
Calling himself professional, intellectual, an introvert, and a lover, Harper Mercer called himself shy at first, but the type of person who warms up quickly — and worked better in small groups of folks.
Most telling were the groups that Harper Mercer listed, belonging to “Doesn’t Like Organized Religion” and “Magick and Occult” and more. Chris wrote that he was looking for the types of things that many men might be seeking: A soulmate, romance, and other relationship fare. Harper Mercer wanted to find “Miss Right” who was “the yin to my yang” and a pen pal. The detailed profile went on to say that Chris believed in working out, aerobics, and weightlifting.
A Facebook page listed with the name of Harper Mercer shows disturbing content from a troubled perspective, but there’s no confirmation yet if that really belongs to the Chris in question. Someone has already set up other fake social media accounts, such as a Facebook page calling Harper Mercer their hero, and a fake Harper Mercer Twitter account .
Chris Harper Mercer, according to twitter, is a white, black, Asian, Muslim, Nazi, Black lives matter protester. He’s really just a killer.
