In what some might consider a self-indulgent move, CBS is celebrating 30 years as the No. 1 network with an interactive exhibit held at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles, CA. The exhibit features one-of-a-kind memorabilia and original set pieces from the network’s current morning programs ( The Price is Right , Let’s Make a Deal , The Young and the Restless , The Bold and the Beautiful and The Talk ) as well as tributes to older shows ( As the World Turns and Guiding Light ). Many of the shows’ stars got a chance to see the exhibit before guests and took a few selfies along the way.
Regardless of your feelings about self-promotion, CBS does have a lot to crow about. The network is celebrating one of the longest-winning streaks in TV history with its morning programming since 1986.
“This winning streak is an incredible source of pride for all of us at CBS,” said Angelica McDaniel, executive vice president, Daytime Programs, CBS Entertainment. “It speaks to three decades of great storytelling from the best creative artists in front of and behind the camera, and the amazing support from a very passionate and loyal fan base.”
Among the things to see on display at the CBS exhibit include:
- The Wheel, original podiums, and Bob Barker’s original microphone from The Price is Right show.
- The Car Pong Game; mascot costumes for Zonko, Zurtle, and Zonkey; and the original “#3” from the first stage door from the Let’s Make a Deal show.
- Set replicas of Victor Newman’s office, the Chancellor Park set, and original scripts from The Young and the Restless show with writer William J. Bell’s handwritten notes.
- Fashion runway, set costumes, and a 24-foot-tall family tree from The Bold and the Beautiful .
- An original host table from The Talk as well as costumes worn from the 2015’s Halloween show.
- Lots of cut-outs from the show’s stars for guest to pose and take selfies with.
