Actor Robert Patrick has reportedly signed a deal to co-star on HBO’s hit vampire series True Blood , according to Deadline .
The Terminator 2 alum starred as Alcide’s dad on the popular television program. However, his obligations to ABC’s Last Resort prevented him from appearing on the show in a regular capacity.
Patrick has accepted the recurring role on True Blood following ABC’s decision not to move forward with more episodes of its submarine drama. Those who were hoping the actor would make more appearances on the blood-sucking hit can now openly rejoice.
Digital Spy reports that Joe Manganiello, who portrays Alcide on True Blood , said he enjoyed the time he spent working with Robert Patrick. The actor went on to say Patrick’s performance was “creepy” and “dark.”
When the Walk the Line co-star isn’t lending his talents the small screen, Robert Patrick still finds the time to appear in a number of motion pictures. In addition to directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s Lovelace , the veteran actor will appear alongside Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad this January.
Although Patrick has appeared in a number of films and television shows over the years — Internet Movie Database puts the total at 117 titles — the actor is still predominantly known for his turn in Avatar mastermind James Cameron’s action classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day .
“[The T-1000] is what broke me out big to the world, and I kind of carry it with me everywhere I go, for good or bad,” the actor once said in an interview .
“I obviously had a great deal of faith in Jim Cameron and Stan Winston and everyone involved, so that was where my commitment was, to really pull this off,” Patrick explained. “I didn’t want to let him down or let anybody down but I had hoped it would be this memorable, I had an inclination it would, but I don’t think I realized what an impact it would have, and how it would change my life.”
