The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to finish the Toronto Raptors off in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals by a final score of 113-87 . It was a dominant performance, and the city of Cleveland is set to get another chance to snap the professional sports championship curse that they have been under.
LeBron James was unable to knock off the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals last season after both Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving went down with injuries. This season, it seems that the Cavaliers are as healthy as can be and are clicking on all cylinders at just the right time. Golden State and the Oklahoma City Thunder are locked into a tight series of their own, but the Cavaliers are ready to take on either team.
After the mid-season drama of firing head coach David Blatt and hiring Tyronn Lue, the Cavaliers have found their chemistry.
Last season, there seemed to be animosity between players and coaches. They didn’t seem to be on the same page at all. Now, Lue seems to have his team in order and it all started by putting James in his place and taking control of the team.
There is no question that the Cavaliers are one of the top teams in the NBA and a championship is within their reach. Cleveland will need to take their game to yet another level, as both the Warriors and Thunder are much better competition than anything the Cavaliers have faced in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
What five reasons can be given to support the statement that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win the NBA Finals this year?
LeBron James Is Playing the Best Basketball of His Career
Looking back on LeBron James’ career, there are a lot of great seasons and stretches that he has had. While that may be the case, the control that he has with this team and the balance that he has found between being a top scorer and playmaker has not been seen throughout his career. Today, James is playing the best basketball of his career and is ready to lead Cleveland to the promised land.
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love Have Figured Out Their Roles
Asking three stars to play together is a tough thing to do. Last season was an absolute nightmare for Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love to learn on the fly. They have figured their roles out this season and are locked in on bringing a title back home to Cleveland.
Outstanding Perimeter Shooting and Defense
During the NBA Finals last season against Golden State, Cleveland did not have great perimeter shooting and they definitely didn’t have good perimeter defense. They have put together a roster that has both of those holes fixed. Cleveland has been one of the hottest three-point shooting teams in NBA history in the playoffs, and their defense has been smothering to say the least.
Incredible Roster Depth
There isn’t too much to say about this point other than the Cavaliers are full of talent. They could go 12 players deep on any given night and still pull out a win. Oklahoma City and Golden State are deep as well, but the Cavaliers will be the deepest team in the NBA Finals no matter which team they face.
Experience
Finally, the experience and leadership that the Cavaliers have on their team is unmatched in the NBA. James is set to play in his sixth straight NBA Finals series, while James Jones has been with James throughout all six. Add in the experience that players like Irving, Love, Channing Frye and J.R. Smith bring to the table and the Cavaliers are capable of anything.
Expect to see the NBA Finals be an incredibly exciting series to watch. Whether the Cavaliers face the Warriors or Thunder, there are going to be a lot of close and high scoring games. That being said, the Cavaliers will find a way to come out on top and bring a title to Cleveland.
