Carrie Underwood Dazzles on CMT Music Awards Red Carpet
If there’s one thing for sure about Carrie Underwood, it's that she always steals the show on the red carpet, and she did precisely that at the CMT Music Awards on April 2. The country star who reigns as the most-awarded artist in CMT history, walked the red carpet in a sparkly two-piece outfit by Dolce & Gabbana that showed off her toned legs. The entire look was bedazzled with Swarovski crystals, from the cropped tail coat, which featured an epic train, to Underwood's dazzling shorts.
The Denim & Rhinestones singer opted to let the outfit do the talking and wore her long, blonde locks in a simple low ponytail. Underwood coupled the look with a matching crystal clutch, metallic heels, and some bling by sporting a pair of gorgeous diamond earrings and some glitzy jewels on her fingers. For glam, Underwood rocked dramatic lashes, rosy cheeks, a golden highlight and nude lips.
According to People, the Hate My Heart singer told CMT on the red carpet that her day was all about celebrating her fans. "It's a party here, right? I feel like that's what people focus on. They want to have a good time, just big, fun performances and that's what I hope we accomplish," she said. She continued: "It's all about the fans tonight. Tonight should just be a fun night celebrating. I've seen not just my fans but other people's fans voting all day long and it's just really cool that everybody gets behind their person. So yay for all of us!"
Underwood, 40, stepped out solo at the show and shared that husband Mike Fisher was home with the couple's two sons Isaiah Michael, 8, and Jacob Bryan, 4. "My husband's got the kiddos. He's always holding down the fort while I'm out doing stuff like this," she said before offering her family a shoutout. "Hi, guys!"
It was a big night for the 40-year-old who was nominated for Female Video of the Year thanks to Ghost Story. She's also competed for the top honor of Video of the Year with Hate My Heart. And if that wasn't impressive enough, the iconic singer also took the stage at Texas' Moody Center to perform one of her biggest songs to date.
Underwood brought out all the bells and whistles for a dazzling performance of Hate My Heart at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. The song, which is the latest single on her Denim & Rhinestones album, served up grungy, punchy guitar work and swagger to spare, as a crowd of fans roared along to Underwood's performance. Underwood rocked a glitzy shorts-and-jacket combo as she took the stage, both black and decorated with pink, bedazzled hearts. Flashing lights glowed onstage throughout her set, and at the conclusion of the song, a fireworks display popped off over the stage.
The outdoor nighttime set took place in downtown Austin, Texas, just steps from the awards show venue, with the dome of the Texas Capitol building gleaming in the backdrop. This incredible performance comes less than a month after Underwood completed her Denim & Rhinestones Tour and posted a reflective Instagram post: "Words can't describe how thankful I am to this band and crew who helped put on this show night after night," she wrote on March 19. "Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen and to all the venue staff who made us feel at home every night."
