Bruno Mars is one of many artists to donate a song to the relief compilation to benefit the Philippines and victims of the super storm, Typhoon Haiyan.
The album, entitled Songs for the Philippines , is available on iTunes for $9.99. Bruno Mars is joined by artists that span the genre spectrum, from The Beatles to Justin Bieber, Lorde to Linkin Park. The tracks are published by label giants Sony, Warner Music and Universal; Bruno Mars’ contribution, “Count on Me” (from his album Doo-Wops & Hooligans ), comes courtesy of Warner music by way of Atlantic/Elektra.
All proceeds from the compilation will go to the Philippine Red Cross to aid in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.
Bruno Mars, more properly known by his birth name, Peter Henandez, contributed perhaps the most apt song in “Count on Me,” an airy, crooning ballad of reassurance. It’s essentially the mantra of the compilation, the reliability of others in the face of adversity.
Recently, Bruno Mars happened to spark the ire of Kanye West (like that’s hard) by… winning too much at the MTV Video Music Awards?
“Bruno Mars won all the motherf****ing awards and s***,” West reportedly ranted at a recent show in Brooklyn
Among the awards Bruno Mars took home were “Best Male Video” and “Best Choreography.” Yes, Kanye, Bruno Mars won two awards. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore each took home three. Not sure about your math skills, Mr. West, but maybe you should focus a different number: zero, the number of nominations you had. Up your own game instead of hating on Bruno Mars, maybe?
Yo, Kanye, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Bruno Mars has only taken home two VMAs in all time! Only two in all time!
Sigh…
Looking to the future, Bruno Mars, fresh off the European leg of his “Moonshine Jungle” tour, is slated for a couple of dates in Las Vegas before headlining the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey on February 2, 2014.
How do you like Bruno Mars’ contribution to the Songs for the Philippines ? Should Kanye West be upset with Bruno Mars’ VMA wins?
