Broncos’ linebacker Von Miller was arrested last week for driving on a suspended license and speeding.
Miller, currently suspended by the NFL for six games after violating the league’s substance abuse policy, just can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
This is not the first time Von Miller has been arrested for his driving skills. In August, he was arrested for failing to appear in court on traffic charges. The charges against him at that time were reckless driving, driving without a license, and driving without proof of insurance.
The Broncos drafted Miller with the second overall pick in the 2011 draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl and won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award. In 2012, Miller recorded 18.5 sacks and was named the starting outside linebacker at the Pro Bowl.
What was a quick up for Von Miller now appears to an even quicker down after his latest arrest. Prior to the 2013 season, it was revealed Miller tested positive for marijuana and amphetamines during his rookie year. He was suspended for four games.
Miller lost the appeal of his suspension, which was then increased to six games. Add on his multiple arrests, and Miller is having one terrible year.
Arapahoe County officials confirmed Miller’s latest arrest to local Denver news outlets last week. Miller was not jailed for his latest driving drama. He was cited, and his father drove him home.
With all his legal troubles, Von Miller’s future with the Broncos must be put into question. He already faces losing up to $2 million from his suspension. Is he becoming a locker room issue though? He has definitely become a media distraction.
The Broncos must decide whether Miller’s on-field performance is worth his off-field drama. With Peyton Manning running the show in Denver and putting up historic numbers, Miller’s days could be numbered.
What do you think the Broncos will do with Von Miller after his latest arrest? Is his spot safe in Denver?
