Who would’ve thought that Kevin Federline and Britney Spears would actually reach a point where they can establish a friendship, let alone peacefully and successfully co-parent their two sons.
But it seems like the adage “time heals all wounds” holds true for the couple and Federline admits as much.
When asked the secret to their co-parenting success, the former dancer divulged.
“Time. Time heals everything. The family is great. It’s been a long, long journey, but I think where both of us are now, we both have somebody else we’re happy [with]. Everything just works.”
It certainly has been a long journey since the two tied the knot in 2004 after only three months of dating. Their marriage was documented in the reality show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic and ended in divorce in 2007.
The divorce was acrimonious, to put it mildly, and was followed by Spears’ well-documented downward spiral.
It was during this time that Federline surprisingly stepped up and became a stable caretaker for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Looking back, the deejay said everything happened so fast.
“It’s like a whirlwind. You’re thrown into this limelight and everything kind of happened. It was a good time in my life. We have two beautiful children.”
Spears and Federline are really serious about raising their boys well. The two often reunite to watch their sons’ soccer games together, along with Federline’s new family. The doting father explained.
“We talk when we need to and it’s always about the boys, mostly school stuff and making sure we stay on top of that. It’s just, it’s going great.”
The ex-couple also seems to have established a good compromise for when one has work commitments. Federline described that when he had to go to Orange County to DJ at a gig, the boys went to Vegas to be with their mother.
The 37-year-old also seems to be getting steady work as a DJ . While his income isn’t as big as his ex-wife’s, it’s also not small change. His relationship with Spears is so good that he’s not shy about admitting that he opened his set by playing one of her hits.

Spears has also moved on and is back on top of her game. She’s in a steady relationship with filmmaker Charlie Ebersol and appears to be rocking her Las Vegas show, which has been extended for three more months. On top of that, Spears is back on Billboard’s charts with a brand new single, “Pretty Girls” with Iggy Azalea.
