Many fans of 19 Kids and Counting are anxious to check out the new show coming soon called Bringing Up Bates . The Bates family, led by Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, have been friendly with the Duggar family for some time, and now they’re heading up a new show of their own. What can viewers expect from the new show featuring Gil, Kelly Jo, and their 19 kids?

E! Online shares some scoop on the upcoming Bringing Up Bates . Long-time 19 Kids and Counting viewers have already seen the Bates family a bit, as they have made some appearances on the Duggar show. Gill and Kelly Jo live in rural Tennessee with their 19 kids, though now a few of the oldest are married and on their own now.

The family had a show a while back called United Bates of America , but it wasn’t picked up by TLC for a second season. Now the reinvented reality TV show is heading to UP TV for a fresh start. The family has lots to celebrate these days, and viewers will get to join in on the fun. Whitney and Zach Bates just welcomed their first son, Bradley. In addition, daughter Alyssa and her husband John Webster have just announced that they are expecting a baby as well.

The Bates children range in age from 2 to 25 and the new show will follow the family as many of the kids transition to different phases of life. Bringing Up Bates spoilers indicate that viewers will see Michaella, 24, move forward in her courtship with beau Brandon and they will watch as Erin, 23, and her husband Chad hit some obstacles in starting a family of their own. Tori, 18, will be expected to step up and pick up more responsibility around the Bates home.

19 Kids and Counting continues to be a monster hit for TLC, especially with the recent wedding and pregnancy news of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard , along with Jessa Duggar’s wedding to Ben Seewald. Fans still adore the Duggars and the show, but recent controversy regarding their conservative views, particularly toward gay people, have stirred up a lot of buzz. Duck Dynasty has also faced significant criticism for Phil Robertson’s comments regarding gay people.

Could all of that current blowback affect the success of a show like Bringing Up Bates , which features another ultra-conservative family? It may well be that the show will simply focus on the family and lifestyle and avoid any of the more controversial commentary that is leading to challenges for the Duggars and Robertsons.

As the show’s Facebook page notes, Bringing Up Bates premieres on January 1 on UP TV. While there will be new episodes of 19 Kids and Counting coming in the months ahead as well, Duggar fans may want to check out the Bates family show as they wait for news and new episodes.
