Brie Larson just wrapped on her first time hosting Saturday Night Live . While Larson sure had enough to celebrate, given that the episode was positively received, the Academy Award-winning actress had another reason to party — she’s engaged!

According to Us Magazine , Brie Larson became engaged to her longtime musician boyfriend Alex Greenwald. That said, Larson and Greenwald have been engaged for some time. Brie’s rep confirmed that she became engaged to Greenwald back in March, which was straight off the heels of her Academy Award win for her performance in Room .

A source told the magazine that Brie and Alex became engaged during a trip to Tokyo. The news became official when Larson was spotted on SNL wearing a sparkly ring, which then prompted her rep to confirm the engagement before outlets jumped on the news.

If you were paying attention to Larson’s awards run, Greenwald was her date to several award shows. Thanks to her captivating performance in Room , Larson attended every award show, racking up nominations from the huge ceremonies to small independent ones. On several occasions, the Phantom Planet singer was on Larson’s arm, and during her Oscar speech, Larson included Alex. In the speech, she thanked her “real partner, Alex Greenwald. I love you, the whole thing!”

The two have been public since 2013 but have been on and off for a couple of years. Fortunately, it looks like Brie and Alex are on for good.

Although both are private, Brie Larson praised her then-boyfriend back in January. During the Screen Actor Guild Awards, Larson gushed about Alex backstage to Entertainment Tonight .

“Oh man, I mean, he’s the other half of the equation — how can you explain support? I mean, it goes beyond anything. He’s just my person, he’s my best friend.”

When Brie won the SAG award for Room , Alex was shown mouthing the words “I love you” to the new winner. During her speech, she opened up about her own self-esteem issues while growing up.

In the speech, she said that she was “always worried that I was deeply unlovable.”

Backstage, she explained her childhood and expanded on the thoughts that she left on the stage.

“I was homeschooled, I didn’t really feel like I was part of any group, so this is a really big one for me. For a movie like this to be responding so well to so many different types of people all over the world shows that these things that I thought were my darkness, that were my own struggles, that were only mine, are actually everybody’s. And that makes me feel so relieved and so happy to be a human.”

Greenwald did some mutual gushing about Brie back in March to HollywireTV about Larson’s Oscar win.

At the time, he said, “That was very cool. One of the coolest moments of my life, but I’m sure it was cooler for her. A friend of mine did the Math and she’s one of 77 women in almost one hundred years to have gotten that thing. It’s a pretty amazing thing. She’s a natural.”

As far as how they met, no one knows for sure, but they might’ve met in the music scene. Prior to acting, Larson was a pop singer, and Bustle speculated that they might have met due a mutual friend in the industry.
