Brian Williams had the pleasure of reporting that the lead role in NBC’s Peter Pan Live was given to his daughter, Allison Williams, and he remained cool, calm, and completely collected during the broadcast. According to Entertainment Weekly , Mr. Williams reported the entertainment news during Wednesday night’s broadcast. He managed to keep a straight face despite being super excited that the news that he was reporting involved his own daughter!

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Allison Williams (who stars as Marnie on HBO’s Girls ) landed the role in NBC’s live musical Peter Pan which is set to air on December 4. Naturally her parents are thrilled for her, but her dad, a professional broadcast journalist, had to report the news without bias. And so, that’s just what he did.

Brian Williams didn’t so much as smile when he reported that it was Allison Williams who would be playing Peter Pan. As he read the teleprompter, Williams maintained his poise, even when he recited the most important line.

“Family members confirm she’s been rehearsing for this role since the age of 3, and they look forward to seeing her fly.”

According to Us Weekly , the 26-year-old actress will be starring in the live broadcast alongside actor Christopher Walken , who will play Captain Hook. This is the second live musical that NBC has decided to do. Last December, The Sound Of Music (starring Carrie Underwood as Maria) roped in 18.6 million viewers. Needless to say, the pressure is totally on for Ms. Williams!

Williams is more than thrilled to have been cast in the show. She released the following statement after NBC made the official announcement yesterday.

“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true. It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”

Brian Williams is very supportive of his daughter, even if her day job is a bit risque (if you watch Girls you know what this means). This is one of the biggest career boosts of Allison’s life, and it seems more than obvious that the Williams family is simply thrilled… even if Mr. W can’t jump for joy at his Nightly News desk.
