Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers don’t exactly have the cleanest history, but fantasy football may have helped to end the bad blood between the two Packer greats.
Rodgers was the heir apparent to Favre at what Packers brass thought was the tail end of Brett’s career, and it was the team management’s insistence to move on to Rodgers that hastened Favre’s exit.
As Brett bounced around to the New York Jets and then the Minnesota Vikings, he reportedly held some bad blood toward Rodgers and the Packers for the messy end to his long tenure in Green Bay.
The relationship has gotten better since Brett retired for good, and in the offseason the two quarterbacks even presented an award together at the NFL Honors Show.
Now Brett Favre revealed something even more telling about their relationship. He believes in Aaron Rodgers so much that he even picked the Packers quarterback for his fantasy football team.
If Brett Favre’s agent Bus Cook is to be believed, Brett would be ready for more than just fantasy football. Cook said earlier this year that Brett has stayed in such good shape that he could return to the NFL if he wanted to.
“His arms look like a blacksmith’s arms,” he said. “He rides a bike probably 30-50 miles a day. He runs four or five miles a day. He’s coaching at the high school and they’re undefeated. He loves it. His body fat is 7.5 percent and he weighs 225 pounds. He could play today, better than a lot of them out there today.”
Cook added, “Today, he could play today. I saw him the other day. He’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen him in, physically.”
Even if he isn’t returning to the NFL anytime soon, Brett Favre can still do pretty well in his fantasy football league. Aaron Rodgers is ranked No. 11 this year among all fantasy football players.
