Humanity has looked to the skies with wary suspicion since first realizing there was anything up there worth noticing. Though the Sun, the moon, and planets aren’t typically worshiped as gods and goddesses anymore, some believe they continue to exist as heralds of some form of supernatural doom.
September 27th will mark the occurrence of a very special blood moon. According to the International Business Times , not only is it going to be a supermoon, but it will also happen during a lunar eclipse. This lunar double-whammy marks the first time this has happened since 1982, and only the sixth event witnessed since 1900.
It’s an exceedingly rare lunar occurrence, so this blood moon promises to be a pretty exciting spectacle. Unfortunately, not everyone sees this month’s blood moon as something to look forward to. Instead, they are terrified it’s a sign the world just might be coming to an end.

The Mirror UK reports that some Christians believe the upcoming blood moon to be a sign of the Apocalypse. This theory is based on the Biblical prophecies written in Acts 2:20:
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come.”
and Revelations 6:12
” And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.”
We’ve had blood moons before, so what makes this blood moon so different? According to Christian ministers John Hagee and Mark Biltz, who are among the chief promoters of this latest “doomsday prophecy”, this is the fourth blood moon since April 2014 with six full moons in between them also known as a “tetrad”. Blitz noted that other tetrads were marked by Biblically significant historical events.
“The last time there was a tetrad was back in the 1900s, and to my amazement, they also fell on the feasts of Passover and Tabernacles.
When I noticed the years these phenomena occurred, my mind began reeling. The last two times there were four blood moons in a row, they happened, first, right after Israel became a nation in 1948, and then again when Israel retook Jerusalem in 1967.”
A group of prophets and preachers suggest that the blood moon-supermoon will bring the world to an end sometime between September 21 and September 28. The blood moon lunar eclipse is expected to happen on September 27 into September 28.
