Martin Scorcese has picked Bill Clinton as his new subject matter, and the Boardwalk Empire creator will be centering on Bubba for a new documentary project.
Scorcese’s Bill Clinton project is another collaboration with HBO, the network that hosts the popular gangster drama starring Steve Buscemi. And since the film is non-fiction, there won’t likely be Goodfella ‘s inspired dramatizations of Clinton’s trials and tribulations — nonetheless, the former President is about as excited as one would expect to be as the star of a new Scorcese project.
Clinton said of the Scorcese documentary:
“I am pleased that legendary director Martin Scorsese and HBO have agreed to do this film … I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as president, and my work in the years since, with HBO’s audience.”
Scorcese is looking forward to working with Clinton as well, and the legendary filmmaker explained why Forty Deuce will be a great subject to work with as well as his vision for the project:
“A towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues, President Clinton continues to shape the political dialogue both here and around the world … Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure.”
The Washington Post adds:
“The Clinton docu will mark Scorsese’s fourth collaboration with HBO, including the [work] Public Speaking (2010) and George Harrison: Living in the Material World (2011), and the mobster series Boardwalk Empire ,for which he serves as an executive producer, as well as winning an Emmy for directing last year.”
No word on when the Bill Clinton/Martin Scorcese project will air.
HBO teaming up with Martin Scorcese to make a doc about Bill Clinton? That’s like, 3 of my favourite things in 1 sentence.
