According to People , Betty White will receive the lifetime achievement award at the annual 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards on April 26. The announcement came in a press release from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The 93-year-old comedian and actress is becoming part of a small club of previous award winners, including Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Merv Griffin, Dick Clark, Bob Barker, Phil Donahue, Alex Trebek, and Regis Philbin.
White, who has been in show business for more than 75 years, already has five Emmy awards and has received a total of 21 Emmy nominations, four Golden Globe nominations, three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and one Grammy. Hopefully, there is room for at least one trophy in her home. Betty won her first Emmy in 1952 and others throughout the years, with her last win in 2010.
Betty is one of a few celebrities who has had a well-rounded career. She is a comedian, actress, author, producer, radio host, and television personality. Betty has done it all and is being active in show business.
CBS News reminded fans that White is still remembered for her days on game shows . She is known for having been a frequent contestant on Password where her husband, Allen Ludden, was the host. Betty also appeared regularly on The Match Game , The $25,000 Pyramid , and many other game shows. In fact, America’s sweetheart was the first woman to receive an Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1983 for hosting the game show Just Men .
As an actress, Betty appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful, from 2006 to 2009. Who can forget her on The Golden Girls ? It is interesting that she is the only one of the four “golden girls” who is still living. Betty has excelled in almost every attempt she had made in television, including her role in Hot in Cleveland . Who can forget when social media voted Betty to host Saturday Night Live ?
Over the years, Betty has been referred to by several names and titles, including “First Lady of Game Shows,” “Princess of Television,” “Showbiz Sweetheart,” and “America’s Sweetheart.”
