Betty White Autographed Photograph Among Auction Items For Animal Cause

A Betty White signed picture is among the items being auctioned for a cause the actress herself supports. The autographed photo will be sold to the highest bidder when it comes up for auction at a fundraiser being held by Humane Ohio Spay/Neuter Clinic. The 3rd Annual Spay-ghetti and No Balls Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled to take place on September 14, 2014. It will begin at 5 p.m.

The Blade reported that proceeds from the Betty White pic will help the clinic spay and neuter local area cats and dogs, thus lowering the population of unwanted animals. The organization’s director of development and marketing, Kristy Kissoff, said Humane Ohio hopes the auction will raise a whopping $20,000. The money is necessary for them to keep up the good work.

“We’re on track to do the most spay/?neuter surgeries we’ve ever done, and associated with that comes higher costs. Every year, it’s getting higher,” Kissoff explained.

The silent auction will also include a Ryan Murphy autographed photo donated by the Columbus Blue Jackets and a Niklas Kronwall autographed photo donated by the Detroit Red Wings, according to Humane Ohio . There will be more than 100 items for animal lovers to bid on.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , a Betty White death hoax began when a satirical website posted a story about how the vibrant and young-at-heart actress colors her hair. The story ran under the misleading headline “Actress Betty White, 92, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angeles Home.” The accompanying report was written with the typical Internet user in mind. Many readers scan just the headlines and opening sentences of an article before deciding whether to share it on social media. The first paragraph continued the hoax by making it appear that the article was truly about her death instead of hair dye.

For readers who shared the message via social media, only the headline and misleading first paragraph were read and shared over and over again. Although there were plenty of people who spotted the word “dyes” for “dies” in the headline, many thought it was a simple mistake or typographical error. One reader even took Empire News to task for their apparent misspelling, to which the satire site replied, “We spell perfectly fine, thank you.”

If the recent rumors of Betty White’s death were true, the autographed photograph being auctioned by Humane Ohio Spay/Neuter Clinic would likely fetch a higher price. However, having the talented actress among the world of the living is far more valuable than any bit of ephemera could ever be.

Starting bids on similar items are as low as.99 on eBay. Hopefully the pic being sold by Humane Ohio will fetch a greater price than that; its starting bid is $20. Since the signed picture of Betty White is being auctioned for a noble cause close to her heart, it would be wonderful if one of the star’s big fans makes a large contribution to the organization in exchange for the pic.
