A new photo has been released through Entertainment Weekly that offers a brand new glimpse of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . The image shows Affleck in a tux standing behind Gal Gadot, who is playing Wonder Woman in the movie.
The images depict Affleck as a much older version of the hero than recent versions, with the actor having streaks of grey to go along with his scruffy beard.
In regards to the fact that Batman has been portrayed by a number of different actors in recent years, Affleck told EW , “We accept that he’s played by actors with different interpretations.”
Affleck went on to add that his version of Batman is a much older and tired one.
“He’s at the end of his run and maybe the end of his life,” the actor stated. “There’s this sort of world-weariness to it.”
Meanwhile, as Affleck prepares for his role as Batman, the star is also going through a divorce with his wife, Jennifer Garner . The two announced their breakup in a recent statement after 10 years of marriage.
Despite the personal issues, Affleck is still set to make an appearance at Comic-Con International in San Diego this year. People has confirmed that the will be making an appearance at the event to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and his role as everyone’s favorite Caped Crusader.
During the highly anticipated event, Affleck will be taking the stage with a few of his fellow co-stars along with director Zach Snyder to discuss the new movie. Affleck will appear alongside Henry Cavill, who is playing Superman in the film, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gadot.
In regards to what fans can expect the stars to reveal, Sue Kroll, the president of marketing and distribution at Warner Bros., stated that their goal is to surpass all expectations.
“Comic-Con provides us a fantastic opportunity to interact with the fans, and this year, as with every year, our aim is to surpass their expectations,” Kroll told People .
Kroll went on to add that Comic-Con is also an opportunity for the cast and crew to experience the event first-hand and learn just how enthusiastic the fanbase can be.
“We’re also thrilled to give our filmmakers and talent a chance to experience the unique energy and enthusiasm of Comic-Con.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
