The above photo shows Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles as he congratulated Jonathan Schoop, on the left, for scoring on a double during the fifth inning of the baseball game. However, Jones is being talked about by plenty of sports programs on Tuesday, May 2, because of the treatment that Adam said he received by some Boston Red Sox fans at Fenway Park in Boston, on Monday, May 1.
The Baltimore Orioles All-Star center fielder who is Jones said he was called the N-word and even had a bag of peanuts thrown at Adam on Monday evening, during what Adam has called one of the worst fan abuse events Adam has had in his baseball career. As reported by USA Today , Jones recalled how “awesome” it was, sarcastically, to be called racial epithets and have peanuts thrown at him.
“A disrespectful fan threw a bag of peanuts at me. I was called the N-word a handful of times tonight. Thanks. Pretty awesome.”
As seen in the above video, Max Kellerman called the treatment of Jones something that was malicious and done by a “moron in Boston,” but shouldn’t be attributable to all the fans in Boston at Fenway Park. Yet and still, Adam said that what he experienced with being called the N-word and having peanuts thrown at him was pretty bad, a low point at Fenway Park, where he has experienced abuses before with being called names. However, Monday night’s incident was a lowlight in his 12-year baseball career.
Adam’s experience in Boston shouldn’t be attributed to all Boston fans, said Stephen A. Smith in the below ESPN video.
It’s the same type of treatment that Jackie Robinson reportedly experienced decades ago when he integrated baseball leagues.
Adam said he learned there were approximately 60 people ejected from Fenway Park that night. Smith did note that the city of Boston has had a suspect reputation over the years when it comes to racial abuses.
“It’s unfortunate. The best thing about myself is that I continue to move on, and still play the game hard. Let people be who they are. Let them show their true colors.”
Meanwhile, Jones said that he would just continue to play the game of baseball to the best of his ability and to let detractors just expose their own true motives.
Officials with the Red Sox confirmed that the fan who tossed a bag of peanuts at Jones was kicked out of Fenway Park. Adam was glad that the Boston Red Sox fan who threw peanuts in Jones’ direction into the dugout was caught.
However, Adam wanted a harsher punishment than merely being asked to leave Fenway Park.

Jones believed that fans who hurl racist insults and even throw items into the dugout at baseball players should have to come out of their pockets with money for fines that would hurt them.
“It’s pathetic. It’s called a coward. What they need to do is that instead of kicking them out of the stadium, they need to fine them 10 grand, 20 grand, 30 grand. Something that really hurts somebody. Make them pay in full. And if they don’t, take it out of their check. That’s how you hurt somebody. You suspend them from the stadium, what does that mean? It’s a slap on the wrist. At the end of the day, when you throw an object onto the field of play, the player has no idea what it is. What if something hit me right in the eye and I can’t play baseball anymore. Then what? I just wear it? No. Things like that need to be handled a little more properly, in my opinion.”
