Baltimore and Beyond is a program that will air on TV One tonight to discuss black America, law enforcement, and the unrest in Baltimore. News One will broadcast a town hall meeting, the first of its kind on TV One. According to their Facebook page, the broadcast will focus on killer cops and police brutality that has led to the deaths of black Americans, such as Freddie Gray.
Police brutality and the deaths that have occurred as a result of it is at an all time high. The Baltimore and Beyond Town Hall meeting seeks to get to the root of the issues facing African-American communities, and how key figures are on location in Baltimore to address the problems with law enforcement officials, members of congress, and local church ministers.
News One reports today that U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch will also arrive in Baltimore, in order to help find solutions to some the city’s problems. Marilyn Mosby, who is now known as the tough, no-nonsense Baltimore City state’s attorney who is determined to get justice for the family of Freddie Gray, a black man who died while in police custody. His tragic death caused outrage and protest in the city of Baltimore. Mosby announced last week that she had charged six officers in the death of Freddie Gray.
And while Marilyn Mosby believes that most cops are good cops who understand their duty to protect citizens, she also admits that there are bad cops out there. She addressed the problem of bad cops in January, according to a previous Inquisitr article.
“I know that the majority of police officers are really hard-working officers who are risking their lives day in and day out, but those really bad ones who go rogue do a disservice to the officers who are risking their lives and taking time away from their families.”
