Avengers: Age of Ultron has already been released internationally in some countries, but the domestic release isn’t until May 1. It’s already raking in the money, and many are wondering how it will end and just what could come from one of the most anticipated films of the year. Well, let it be known that it will actually have an alternate ending and an extended version that you can watch at a later time.
Joss Whedon has already admitted that the original cut of Avengers: Age of Ultron was close to three hours long. The final release clocks in at 150 minutes, so that leaves a good 30 minutes that ended up on the cutting room floor.
Well, Comic Book Movie learned that the Blu-ray release for the film will have both an extended version and an alternate ending. This news came via an email blast from Amazon to consumers in the United Kingdom.
It’s easy to know what will end up in the extended version for Avengers: Age of Ultron with 30 minutes of additional footage not in the final cut. The main question here is what could the alternate ending possibly be?
Please note that there is a BIG-TIME SPOILER ahead for Avengers: Age of Ultron , and unless you want to know it, you should stop reading now.
Seriously, stop reading.
Remember the rumors of the ending of Avengers: Age of Ultron, having Hulk shot into space and the possibility of “Planet Hulk?” Well, that isn’t what happens. Here is what does go down.
At the end of the film, Hulk is put in a Quinjet and sent above the Earth. A little later, Nick Fury is talking with Black Widow that Hulk may or may not have crashed down somewhere in the ocean.
Collider made a good point that the alternate ending can’t really veer far from the theatrical one or else it would kind of screw up the Marvel Cinematic Universe . Still, an alternate ending is possible and it’s going to be interesting to see what Whedon and Marvel had come up with, after all.
For now, Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to open in the United States in less than a week so the home release date is still a few months off. Until then, everyone will have to enjoy the film as it is and get the alternate ending and extended version at a later date.
