If the rumors are correct, Nnamdi Asomugha will be playing with the San Francisco 49ers of the New Orleans Saints this season.
Asomugha has reportedly received a lot of interest from both teams but he just can’t make up his mind. The star corner back is apparently “torn” between the two teams.
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapaport wrote on Twitter : Nnamdi Asomugha is still torn between # 49ers and # Saints, I’m told. But New Orleans pushing really hard to get him.”
If Asomugha is looking to play for a good defense the choice is pretty obvious. The 49ers had the 3rd best defense in the league last year compared to the Saints, who were at the bottom of the barrel. The 49ers are also coming off a pretty successful season and have a young exciting quarterback leading the offense.
The Saints weren’t a great team in 2012 but they were also playing without their head coach Sean Payton . If Asomugha heads down to New Orleans he’ll by playing with a team hungry for redemption.
According to Niners Nation, Asomugha has the luxury of being patient. He’s a highly coveted cornerback and is currently guaranteed $4 million from the Philadelphia Eagles. If Asomugha waits too long, however, he could see his options dwindle as teams start filling positions with draft players.
Where do you think Nnamdi Asomugha will play next year?
