Ariana Grande’s long awaited single ‘Problem’ is hitting Billboard charts right between the eyes this week and is looking at creating huge first week sales numbers. The single may open in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
According to Billboard , industry sources cited that the song could attain more than 300,000 downloads for week ending May 2 following yesterday’s release on iTunes and other digital outlets. Ariana Grande is looking forward to these solid numbers to translate into a top ten debut on the Hot 100 which consists of a combination of sales, airplay and streaming numbers. We’ll know exactly where Grande’s hit, which features Iggy Azalea starts on May 7, after ‘Problem’ has a full week of stats under its belt.
Ariana Grande is in some elite company with regard to 300,000 downloads in the first week. Only 22 other singles debuted with 300,000 or better downloads in the first week since that stat has been kept.
Radio stations are also receiving ‘Problem” well. Ariana Grande was heard across 87 stations with 293 first day plays with KIIS out of Los Angeles leading the pack with 17 plays throughout the day. It’s estimated that Ariana Grande was in front of an audience of 3.8 million yesterday.
Ariana Grande debuted the single at the Radio Disney Music Awards on Sunday which aired on the Disney Channel.
This isn’t the first success that Ariana Grande has experienced. She also rose to the Billboard 200 number 1 spot in September with her debut album “Yours Truly”. Her first single “The Way” which features Mac Miller reached number 9 on the Hot 100 and achieved over 2 million digital downloads. Iggy Azalea jumped over 18 spots to reach 18 with her hit “Fancy”, featuring Charli XCX. The album “The New Classic may debut as high as number 2 on this week’s Billboard 200 which will be disclosed tomorrow.
Rumors have also swirled around a Justin Bieber/Ariana Grande duet earlier this month, although nothing has been confirmed. We are sure that Ariana Grande is too busy gearing up for her album release in the Summer and promoting her new single ‘Problem’ to engage in such rumors.
Twitter twits seem to love the new single as well!
