Apple revealed in a statement on Friday that they will challenge Motorola’s imposition of a German ban on iPhones and iPads .
Executives from the company said they will file the appeal “right away” while pointing out that holiday sales would not be affected since the ban would not begin until the start of 2012.
“Holiday shoppers in Germany should have no problem finding the iPad or iPhone they want,” an Apple spokesman revealed.
The ban does not affect Wi-Fi only devices (base iPad, iPod touch) but does affect cellular devices that violate a Motorola patent holding. Those devices include all cellular products except for the company’s newer iPhone 4S.
If the patent violation holds Electronista points out that not only could the largest European market be left untouched by Apple, the patent lawsuit could extend to all of Europe, creating major headaches for Apple.
Do you think the numerous patent lawsuits being filed these days are going to far to stifle competition?
