Users about to purchase an Apple iPad or iPad 2 might want to save their money and wait until the new Apple iPad 3 arrives early next year.
According to the most recent Apple rumor to hit the internet the iPad 3 will feature a 9.7-inch display that has twice the resolution of current iPad 2 devices.
The rumor comes from several unnamed sources who say Apple has already ordered enough of the displays and other required parts to build 1.5 million of the devices.
Speaking to the WSJ one of those suppliers said:
“Suppliers will ramp up production and try to improve the yield rate for the new iPad in the fourth quarter before its official launch in early 2012,” said a person at the supplier.
Apple will definitely need to offer increasingly cool components on their devices if they plan to stay ahead of Google Android tablet manufacturers who are expected to ramp up production on Android powered tablets in Q4, 2011.
Are you going to hold out for a higher resolution iOS tablet based device or grab an Android tablet for your next purchase? It will be interesting to see if Google’s own tablet OS can surpass Apple’s iOS system as they have on mobile device sales around the world.
