The world has been waiting for it since the ant-sized trailer for Marvel’s Ant-Man was released within the last week, but now it’s here for all to see. Tonight during Agent Carter , the first full-sized – and human-sized – trailer for Ant-Man was released, and it stars Paul Rudd as the world’s smallest superhero.

As reported by Huffington Post , this release during Agent Carter has been planned for some time now. Marvel did release the first full-length trailer though, in a size that humans could see without using a magnifying glass. As seen in the Ant-Man trailer, Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang, who is a thief who teams up with a genius by the name of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). They work to hide Pm’s unique technology that allows him to shrink down to the size of an ant.

The trailer actually doesn’t seem very superhero-ish when it begins, but then moves along nicely as Marvel tends to do. Rudd adds a certain amount of humor to the character that is definitely needed if Marvel is going to get over a comic book movie that may be rather unfamiliar to the non-comic book crowd.
Forbes revealed that Ant-Man original plans for the movie went back as far as 2006 and was going to be directed by Edgar Wright, but he left it just this past Memorial Day weekend due to creative differences. That also took out any thought that Simon Pegg may end up in the lead role.

In stepped director Peyton Reed and writer Adam McKay who have obviously steered Ant-Man in a direction that focuses a lot on the character. Many Marvel films are all about the plot and a big storyline so to see one focus primarily on the character, well, it’s a welcome change.
The world’s smallest superhero has now entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will continue forward on the huge screen.
With the release of the Ant-Man trailer, now we simply have to wait until July 17 for it to hit theaters.
Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, Judy Greer, Wood Harris, T.I., John Slattery, Ryder Fortson, David Dastmalchian, Gregg Turkington, and more. Don’t miss Marvel’s tiniest hero this summer.
