Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt recently enjoyed themselves on a semi-business related trip to the country of Cambodia. While the couple and their family appeared to be very happy as they enjoyed their stay in Cambodia, Jolie looked alarmingly frail, leading to further questions about her health.
According to Radar Online , photos released from their trip reveal that Jolie is as thin as she has ever been in the past. In fact, the By the Sea star was particularly skinny in the arms as she perused local markets in the country.
Speaking of her arms, in addition to Jolie showing off her slim figure she also revealed a brand new tattoo on one arm. Unfortunately, Jolie’s new tattoo could not be clearly made out in the images. That being said, the tattoo appeared to be some type of protection symbol, though it is not certain at this point.
Meanwhile, during their stay in Cambodia, OK Magazine is reporting that Jolie and Pitt were also spotted shopping at a local market in Siem Reap on December 14. During their shopping spree, Jolie wore a white strapless gown, which proved to only highlight her slender frame. While Jolie perused through a collection of scarves, Pitt was seen hanging around sporting a camera case. The actor was wearing light pants with a white top, completing his laid back outfit with a hat.
Although Jolie and Pitt brought along a few of their kids on their trip, their stay in Cambodia included some work for the actress. In fact, Jolie was in Cambodia primarily to work on her upcoming role in First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia .
According to PEOPLE , the movie is an adaptation of a memoir by Loung Ung. While Ung is now well-known for being an advocated for human rights, the author’s memoir centers on the Khmer Rouge and the Pol Pot regime that was present in the country in the ’70s. Specifically, the work focuses on the destructive and terrifying nature of the Pol Pot regime, which is a theme that is also set to appear in the big screen adaptation.
Apart from their shopping appearances, and Angelina Jolie’s work in the upcoming movie, the Hollywood couple also made an appearance at the Cambodia International Film Festival. For her part, Jolie was the leader of one of the honorary committees at the festival, and shared some of her feelings towards the country of Cambodia at the event.
Specifically, Jolie had a few heartfelt words to share about her own family and her close connection with Cambodia. Jolie and Pitt’s son, Maddox (14) was actually born in Cambodia, which is something that the actress made reference to in her speech.
“He is my son, but he is also a son of Cambodia,” Jolie shared in her interview during the film festival.
Jolie added that their time in Cambodia, and her work on the film, was meant to strengthen her family’s ties to Cambodia.
“This is the time for our family to understand all that means to him and us. My desire to tell this story in the most truthful and accurate way possible will be my tribute to the strength and dignity of all Cambodian people,” she stated.
Along with mentioning Maddox in her speech, Jolie also allowed her son to work with her on the new movie. Apparently, Maddox is performing some research for the movie, while his other brother Pax is taking pictures on set of the movie. In having her son help out on the movie project, Jolie hopes that it will further expand his knowledge about Cambodian culture.
