An American mother was killed in an Abu Dhabi mall by an unidentified “fully-cloaked” person. According to the New York Daily News , the 37-year-old mother was at the Boutik Mall on Reem Island when she was attacked . Police are currently investigating and are trying to find a motive, and are wondering if this woman was a target or if this was random.
“Surveillance video capturing the suspect’s escape shows the individual wearing a black abaya, black gloves and a black face cover, also called a Niqab. An investigation into the suspect’s identity, including gender, is said to be underway,” reports the New York Daily News .

The American mother killed in the Abu Dhabi mall is being referred to as “A.B.R.” by authorities. A.B.R. had been working as a school teacher in the area. Her two children, 11-year-old twin boys, have been placed in the care of the Community Police.
“The Community Police will be providing the children with shelter and other needs pending the arrival of their father (the victim’s ex-husband) from abroad. The father will be received by the Community Police, who will also cater to the needs of the victim’s family,” said Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid.
According to Mail Online , mall employees witnessed the attack but were unable to help the woman, or stop the suspect. The Boutik Mall is described as an “oasis of independent retailers, brand outlets, comfortable cafes and day-to-day services.” The area is very nice, and the mall is often populated by business professionals as well as people who live in the two connecting residential buildings. The mall opened in 2011.
“Police found the woman lying on the floor bleeding. She had serious wounds after being stabbed with a knife during a brawl with the attacker.”
The American mother killed in the Abu Dhabi mall was one of an estimated 40,000 Americans living in the city.
Abu Dhabi is known for its luxury. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the area is constantly growing and improving. There are some pretty interesting things happening in Abu Dhabi, including the world’s largest roller coaster restaurant .
According to the United States Department of State, the crime rate in the area is considered “medium.” The crime rate in the United Arab Emirates is actually pretty low.
