Amazon has decided to get a jump on the competition, and they have done so with Amazon.com/blackfriday , a deals site which has launched three weeks before Black Friday arrives.
Online retailers have taken advantage of “Cyber Monday” deals for years, leaving much of the holiday shopping traffic up for grabs by brick and mortar stores. Amazon, however, has managed to garner success on Black Friday over the last several years followed by even more sales the following Monday.
With consumer spending expected to jump from $854 last year to $900 this year, many retailers are announcing their Black Friday ads earlier or even jumping into early shopping sales mode.
Amazon is likely attempting not only to subvert its brick and mortar customers but also to grab a larger share of the holiday online shopping market. According to eMarketer, Americans are expected to spend $54.5 billion, 16.8 percent higher than 2011 spending
The Amazon Black Friday store opened on November 1, just as it did in 2011.
Between November 1 and Black Friday the following items will be discounted at different times.
