A creative superhero mural made out of 8,000 Post-It notes is now taking up residence in an office thanks to Ben Brucker. Brucker, who works at a San Francisco based Creative Agency, said he was bored with the drab walls and wanted to find a way to give them a face lift. In his own words, he was looking to “spruce them up a bit.”
After receiving the go-ahead from his bosses, he set out with a $300 budget to decorate the walls with some sort of mural. Known as Bruck7 on his imgur page , Brucker explained his motivation behind creating the superhero mural.
“One day, I just got so tired of how sterile and boring our office felt, I thought I should do something about it. We realized that painting would take a long time, and would be difficult to remove (we had the building facilities department to worry about), so we landed on post-its as a semi-cheap and fully temporary solution.”
The idea to create the superhero mural came about when Ben and his creative director began brainstorming ideas. Brucker said, “I wanted something colorful, playful and inspiring. My creative director and I tossed around some ideas. Eventually he suggested superheroes .”
Brucker and his coworkers worked on the mural together. The superheroes included in the mural are Wonder Woman, Superman, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Spiderman, and Batman.
One person asked Brucker on his imgur page how long the post-its used in the superhero mural can hold their glue and stay up on the walls. Brucker answered the question , writing everyone in the office knew the mural was only a temporary solution.
“Good question! I made sure I got the “super sticky” kind. Nonetheless, some of the ones that weren’t stuck on that well, or were curling from pulling off the pad, have shed a bit. But we’re replacing them as they fall with a better ‘technique’ and I think they’ve got a long time up there once they’re stuck on correctly. The good news is, we’re moving to a new office in a few months, so this was all temporary anyway!”
If the new office needs decorating, will the crew will be up to the task of recreating the superhero mural? Maybe they’ll choose a theme other than superhero.
If you decide to create your own superhero mural, Brucker has a tip for you : use super glue to hold the post-it notes together.
