Amal Clooney was one of the biggest stars of the night at Sunday’s Golden Globes, and she wasn’t even up for an award.
Most people would be thrilled to mingle with the stars at a glitzy, glamorous event like the Globes, but Us Weekly claims that Mrs. Clooney “was totally over” it. According to the magazine, Amal Alamuddin Clooney “could hardly contain her boredom” and “looked incredibly uninterested” all night long. Twitter also noticed Amal’s unenthusiastic resting face.

Of course it’s possible that Amal Clooney just felt out-of-place in the strange new world of Hollywood award shows? If she really was super bored, perhaps she should have taken the shot of Casamigos Tequila that Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic offered her on the red carpet. Poor Giuliana ended up taking a shot by herself while George and Amal awkwardly watched. It was definitely another #boredAmal moment.
During her opening monologue, Tina Fey reminded everyone why someone like Amal Alamuddin Clooney probably doesn’t give a flying flip about frivolous affairs like the Golden Globes.
“George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”
Tina Fey’s joke definitely devalued Clooney’s award a bit. However, according to Just Jared , the star used his acceptance speech to shower his wife with the praise that she so richly deserves.
“It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love,” George said. “Even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life, and when your whole life is 53 years… Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.”
Perhaps George’s sweet speech will put those pesky divorce rumors to rest.
Amal Clooney received plenty of praise after her first awards show appearance, but not everyone was gushing about how she was too good for the Globes or “Gorgeous George.” Unfortunately for Amal, a few Twitter fashionistas decided that her lifetime achievements were overshadowed by her ill-fitting white gloves.

During her first appearance on Fashion Police , Kathy Griffin tried to fill Joan Rivers’ sassy shoes by choosing Amal as her worst dressed celebrity of the Golden Globes. Giuliana Rancic also got revenge on Amal for her tequila shot diss by bashing the gloves, but Kelly Osbourne called Giuliana out for lying to Mrs. Clooney’s face the night before by telling Amal that she loved the gloves. Maybe Amal Clooney wore the much-maligned gloves because she was hiding a bad manicure, or maybe she didn’t want Giuliana Rancic to pressure her into sticking her hand inside the E! Mani Cam box.
