A.J. Cook has a new baby. The Criminal Minds actress and husband Nathan Andersen are thrilled to announce the birth of their second child, including the little boy’s unusual name, reported Us Weekly .
Because A.J. (Alexander) turned 37 on July 22, her new son almost shares her birthday! Cook’s baby has a big brother, 6-year-old Mekhai Allan.
The full name of A.J.’s little boy is (drum roll) Phoenix Sky Andersen. Cook’s baby boy is 20.5 inches and seven pounds, six ounces.
When A.J. revealed the news of her pregnancy, she described it as a miracle. Cook called her baby bump blessed.
“Miracles do happen and don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise. #Blessed #Bump.”
And Andersen didn’t hesitate to spill the details of whether they were having a boy or girl.
“Since @ajcook announced we are expecting a new addition to the clan, I guess it’s my responsibility to inform everyone it’s a boy!” shared Nathan on social media.
Prior to giving birth, Cook celebrated the Fourth Of July with a final baby bump pic.
“MERICA!!!!!! Happy 4th! @nathanandy,” she wrote.
As the Inquisitr reported, Today show star Bobbie Thomas also just welcomed her own “miracle” baby . Bobbie had shared her struggles with infertility and IVF, hoping to inspire others.
Before Thomas had her baby boy, she went through four cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as a variety of visits to physicians and hormone shots.
When A.J. first announced that she was pregnant, Cook’s baby bump presented a puzzler for Criminal Minds , reported Zap2it .

Fans who were aware that Jennifer Love Hewitt exited the show because of her own baby became concerned that Cook might also decide to attend to her baby. Not so, said showrunner Erica Messer, who hinted about Season 11.
“It depends on when she actually has the baby,” Messer said at that time. “Shooting starts the first or second week in July. So if she has the baby the end of July, we’ll have to figure out how much time she’ll want. My guess is it will probably be the first five episodes.”
And the timing was unexpected, admitted Erica.
“It was so funny. I literally had the conversation about Jennifer not coming back because she wanted to be at home with the baby on a Thursday. Then on Friday, A.J. came into my office and she’s like, ‘I’m pregnant,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, what?’ I thought if I wrote this kind of thing it would be over the top that both of you are pregnant.”
