The Air Force sex scandal took an odd turn when the head investigator looking into the allegations of sexual assault and rape was himself arrested.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the Air Force sex scandal at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas grew from considering a “few bad apples” to a much larger case.
The Air Force sex scandal rocked the Lackland air base when 59 individuals came forward to say they were victims of rape or sexual assault by drill instructors. Back in January, the Air Force sex scandal received an investigation from the House Armed Services Committee.
The Air Force sex scandal became even worse when Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Krusinski, was removed from his job as head of the Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office after his arrest on charges of grabbing a civilian woman by the breasts and buttocks in a suburban Virginia parking lot near the Pentagon:
“On May 5 at 12:35 am, a drunken male subject approached a female victim in a parking lot and grabbed her breasts and buttocks. The victim fought the suspect off as he attempted to touch her again and alerted police. [Krusinski] was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He was held on a $5,000 unsecured bond.”
The Air Force sex scandal also caused five former commanders to be disciplined for delayed reactions and inappropriate responses to cases of sexual abuse. Their names and how they were disciplined were not revealed because they didn’t go through the military court system
Senator Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, is not happy with the way the Air Force sex scandal is being handled:
“Let me be clear. I am not satisfied with the progress to date (in dealing with sexual assaults). “We must begin to eliminate this … scourge.”
A report on the Air Force sex scandal shows the reported cases of sexual assault rose to 3,374 in 2012 from 3,192 the previous year. But estimates claim cases of unwanted sexual conduct are considerably higher. In response, President Obama says, “Bottom line is, I have no tolerance for this. I expect consequences.”
