Hayley Atwell, known for her role as Peggy Carter in Captain America and TV’s Agent Carter , might be giving up the field for the desk. A new ABC drama, Conviction , has offered her a leading role as Carter Morrison. But how important is Hayley Atwell’s new role?
Atwell is most-known as Peggy Carter, companion of Captain America’s Steve Rogers. In Hayley Atwell’s own right, she’s been cast as Agent Carter in the Marvel series since 2011. Atwell’s show has gone through two seasons so far, since its debut in 2015.
According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), Hayley Atwell has an extensive record of playing Peggy. Before Agent Carter , she also maintained the role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , in 2014.

Although the information hasn’t been updated on Atwell’s IMDb profile, Variety confirmed that she has been cast as Carter Morrison , “the brilliant but rebellious daughter of a former president, who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles’ newly created Conviction Integrity Unit.”
As Hayley Atwell performs her new role, alongside her, she’s accompanied by a “team of lawyers, investigators, and forensic experts.” Essentially, they all work together to help those individuals who are believed to have been wrongly accused and convicted.

Nevertheless, rumor has it that a full third season of Agent Carter won’t be underway. However, Entertainment Weekly mentions that Hayley Atwell would do a season 3 wrap-up of the series. If Atwell’s Agent Carter is picked up for another season, the source mentions that she would reschedule her agenda in order to accommodate both shows.

Variety elaborates on the reason behind the possible show cancellation. The source states as follows.
“ Marvel’s Agent Carter has never been a ratings juggernaut for ABC on Tuesday nights — the most recent episode drew 2.9 million viewers and a 0.8 rating — but the series scores notable gains in Live+3 and Live+7 playback among the adults 18-49 demo, with last week’s telecast spiking 63% from three days of playback (from a 0.8 in L+SD to a 1.3) and the second season premiere jumping 78% after seven days (from a 0.9 in L+SD to a 1.6).”
According to IMDb, Hayley Atwell gave a public quote about her role as Peggy Carter. It reads as follows.
“Peggy was in a position where if she was a damsel in distress, she wouldn’t be of that position. And when she says, ‘I know what it’s like to have a few doors slammed in my face,’ I think because she’s this attractive woman who’s beautifully made up, she had to fight a little bit harder to get where she is to prove that she’s capable. And I think that’s great because there’s a kindred spirit between her and Steve, there’s an equality about them and I love that.”
Who else can play the role of this “damsel in distress”? Hayley has been crafting Agent Carter’s image since Captain America ‘s remake debuted in 2011. Anything dealing with her role, whether live-action or animated, Atwell’s been the woman to cover it. If someone else were to take the spot, hopefully, it wouldn’t be a similar trade off as “Aunt Viv” on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air . For years, it was Janet Hubert — a dark-skinned African-American. Then, all of a sudden, it was Daphne Maxwell-Reid — a light-skinned African-American.
Likewise, Hayley Atwell ‘s character is brunette and five-feet, seven-inches. If she’s replaced with a blonde who is five-feet, three-inches, that would be unacceptable, right?
In whatever case, the newbie would have to have Atwell’s confidence. In regards to Hayley’s perspective on her beauty, she also noted that — even in acting — nudity liberates her. Atwell noted that it makes her feel incredibly human. Moreover, a major point is that she loves this feeling, even in her own body’s imperfections, as noted IMDb.
